Personal finance habits can be a plethora of things that helps you to save money. However, all of these might not be feasible for you to follow. In order to get best results, you should create your own personal finance habits as you go about in your daily lives based on certain basic personal finance principals.

Although habits can differ from person to person, the underlying principle doesn’t change accordingly. This means if you get the basic philosophy right, you cannot be wrong on its application. Here we are going to discuss about those principles which you should keep in mind always. By using these you can make your own convenient rules to keep your personal finance in the best shape.

1. Spend less than what you make by living within your means – The concept of living within your means simply indicate that you should spend less than what you earn, avoid excessive debt and save money. Although the concept is easy to understand, the overwhelming number of people who are in debt in the country implies that it is not that easy to put into practical application. The most important aspect of living within your means, is knowing, where you are spending your money every day. Also you need to take well calculated decision about what house to buy, when to settle down, what car to drive and other such important choices in your life which affects your finances a great deal.

2. Making your money work for you – If you can make small changes in your life, then you can maximize your savings without having to modify your lifestyle drastically. Some habits that you should inculcate are paying your credit card bills within the time period so that you don’t have to pay interest rate. High interest rates on unsecured credit cards make your debt amount quite overwhelming. You should also try and invest money in high interest accounts where you will get most amount of interest on the length of time you will keep the money untouched in the savings. You should check over existing bills and find ways to save money especially when it comes to utility bills like telephone and electricity. You should also put all your savings in a bank so that you will be able to gather interest rate on them and watch your money grow.

3. Preparing for any unexpected and emergency situation – There are many people who claim not to have enough money to repair their vehicles when it breaks down or repair an electrical line fault at their house. These are not as unexpected event as they are touted to be as these are situations that are bound to happen in your life. Thus it is best that you prepare yourself for such situations with time in hand. You should build two funds from the money that you save every month. One should go for savings fund and another for emergency fund. When you need money for any similar event mentioned before, you should tap on to the emergency fund. To be on the safe side you should put aside money till you have gathered enough that equals three months of living expenses. You can go on saving even after that. Another way to prepare for unexpected events is to have sufficient insurance. Car insurance, life insurance and health insurance are three things that you should ensure that you have in sufficient amount.

Thus you can see how the above principles can provide you guidelines for good personal finance habits.

Under a personal loan, you take out money based on the promise that you’re going to pay it back. There’s no guarantee for the creditor, so the creditor has to offset this higher amount of risk they’re taking, usually with a higher amount charged for fees. The personal loan arrangement is not a good one for large amounts of money.

What Are They For?

Personal loans are usually taken out for small purchases. For example, if your computer dies and you need to get a new one, a personal loan may be the most desirable way to get the funding. Because you’re not borrowing a great deal of money, the high interest and high fees associated with these loans are acceptable. These loans come in many forms; here are some examples:

Store credit to buy consumer goods

Store credit cards that serve as revolving credit

Signature loans

Payday loans

Why Are the Fees High?

When creditors give personal loans, they’re taking a lot of risk. There’s basically nothing they can do aside from turn the case over to a collection agency if the debtor decides to default on the loan. They may take the debtor to court, as well, but they’re still taking a huge risk in that the debtor simply may not have enough money to pay them back and because the creditor has no right to any property in exchange for the money not paid.

A secured loan protects the creditor by giving them a lien on a piece of property. The creditor’s credit rating and their personal guarantee to pay the loan back does play a role in a secured loan, but the debtor can always simply take the property used for collateral or repossess the property bought with the loan if a secured loan is defaulted upon. In the case of an unsecured loan, it’s all about the debtor’s creditworthiness.

If you’re interested in taking out an unsecured loan, be sure you understand how to use these financial instruments wisely. They’re great for making small purchases that you can pay back quickly or, at least, within the terms for which the loan is written. Over a certain amount, however, the loans become burdensome because of their high interest rates and the other fees associated with them. Like all financial instruments, an unsecured loan is incredibly useful for some situations and very inappropriate for others.

The seniors in the United States of America is the largest demographic of mortgage free homeowners. Though they tend to be financially practical and frugal than the young adults, they often feel that the debt consolidation process is difficult for them as they’re robbed of the meager amount of money that they have. The seniors are the most creditworthy borrowers in the US but this is certainly not helping them stay on top of their finances as credit card debt is ballooning in the nation. The seniors are even the most scammed people as half of the identity thieves target them. Have a look at some steps that you may take in order to stop debts mar your golden years.

Follow a frugal budget: As you no longer have the capacity to work and earn a fixed amount of income in a month, it is important for you to follow a frugal budget so that you can keep a track of your expenses. Though it is said that most seniors are frugal, yet you should still follow a budget that can assist you in monitoring your savings. Think twice before spending money on something that you want and do not need.

Stop whipping your plastics: If you’re continuously whipping your plastics to make ends meet, you’re still on the wrong financial track. You must use cash instead of credit so that you don’t fall in further debt trouble while making ends meet. Use a single credit card, that too for emergency purposes.

Get help from a non-profit debt consolidation firm: Instead of seeking the help of a for-profit debt consolidation firm, you can get help from a non-profit firm so as to save your dollars. They charge lesser fees than their for-profit counterparts and provide you with a free debt counseling session that can be helpful for your fiscal growth. You can determine the exact ways in which you can save money and also manage your finances. Tell all your problems to the counselor so that he can give you the best solution to your financial woes.

Run to a credit counseling agency: You can also rush to a credit counseling agency, though a non-profit one so that you can get back a firm grip on your personal finances. As you already have a small amount of income, the credit counselor will check your present finances and then advise you on effective money management techniques. If he thinks that you can’t manage this money on your own, they will enroll you with a debt management plan so that you can repay in single and affordable monthly payments.

Therefore, when you want to make your post-retirement period memorable, make sure that high interest debts don’t cast a shadow on your retired life. Utilize the saved money to make timely payments towards your debts through a debt consolidation firm.

Author’s Bio: Martha Jackson loves to write financial articles and she is a contributory writer associated with the Debt Consolidation Care Community and has written several articles on debt consolidation, debt settlement and get out of debt for various financial websites. She holds her expertise in the Debt industry and has made significant contribution through her various articles.

You may associate the name Goodyear strictly with the famous blimp, but it is also a major manufacturer of car and truck tires, and a company that has more than four thousand service centers scattered around the United States.

This is why there is also a Goodyear credit card opportunity available as well. This is a credit account that will allow people to ensure that their car and tires are as safe and well maintained as possible, and to keep as much money in their pocket as possible as they do so.

How is that? Well, the Goodyear credit card accounts allow the consumer to put their new tire purchase and installation on a payment plan. Let’s face it, not everyone can afford the high cost of a new set of good tires on a car or truck, and will opt to do it “in bits and pieces” instead of doing all four tires at once.

This leads to more wear and tear on the tires and vehicle than is necessary, and the Goodyear credit card is the simplest and most reasonable way to avoid doing so.

In addition to the purchase of new tires, the Goodyear credit card is also a good way to get certain services done on a vehicle. Anything available through a Goodyear center is also going to be able to be purchased through the use of the credit card.

This means that a consumer need never fear any sort of problem with some of the major systems on their vehicle because the card is going to be able to deliver the kind of payment plans that they can live with.

Not only does the Goodyear credit card help consumers to get tires and services on a workable payment plan, but also those who can pay off their balance in full within a 25-day period of purchase can enjoy a zero interest option.

The accounts have a grace period that acts as a “same as cash” opportunity. This means that you have twenty-five days to pay the balance due in order to avoid paying another penny of interest!

Not many consumers stop to consider the “what if” scenarios with their car or truck tires, and even fewer people stop to consider the expense of installing four new tires on a car or truck either.

The opportunity to put such a large purchase on a payment plan makes this a much easier issue to tackle when it happens, and it is always going to be something that does happen!

Many people find themselves unable to repay what they owe to lenders, often due to problems such as a decrease in income or even medical problems.

However, debt does not just go away. Rather, it takes time to get rid of just as it takes time to build. The good news is that organizations like this can help you to reclaim your financial situation so that you can be confident in your financial future.

What Is It ? The National Foundation for Credit Counseling is the largest financial counseling organization in the United States. It also offers services in Puerto Rico. There are over 800 offices throughout this region that allow individuals to come in, talk to a real person and get real answers about what they should do about their debt.

The organization states that in 2010, it helped more than 3.2 million people to get counseling help and to get financial education. This service is available to individuals in person at the local offices, over the phone or even online.

What Does It Offer ? The organization offers a range of tools and resources for consumers to use to improve their debt burden. Some of these include the following:

• Credit Counseling – a service in which individuals work with a counselor to develop a budget that allows them to repay debt and to manage their other financial needs by working with lenders to make repayment easier.

• Housing Counseling – a service that helps individuals to find housing they can afford and to prepare to buy housing in the future.

• Bankruptcy Counseling and Education – this service helps individuals to learn what bankruptcy is as well as what it can do, as well as what their options are. It can also help individuals to decide between counseling services and bankruptcy.

• Financial Education – almost everyone can benefit from having access to improved financial education. These tools can help you to learn what you need to in order to build credit, pay off debt, build your savings and plan.

Many people spend years struggling under a debt burden but it is not necessary. The National Foundation for Credit Counseling helps millions of people to get answers to their questions and to find help that can get them out of debt faster than they thought and with a positive financial future.

However, not all counselors offer the same service, can accomplish the same thing for you and offer the best overall experience.

If you are going to use consumer credit counseling, you need to be sure the person you hire to be in charge of your accounts is someone you can trust.

What’s the Problem? Some consumer credit counselors do not do a good job of exploring your needs and meeting your goals. In fact, the Federal Trade Commission and the IRS has gone after numerous organizations in the past for not being upfront about fees charged or misrepresenting their true status as a for profit organization and not a nonprofit. Some offer questionable advice – even advice that could get the borrower into further turmoil.

The good news is that these are not the common counselors. There are good counselors out there, in fact, many are top notch.

So the question arises, how do you find the best counselor? In order to find the best credit counselor, consider the following tips. It is a good idea to explore several options before making a choice, too.

• The United States Trustee’s office lists approved counselors for people to use. These are the only counselors you can use if you actually plan to file for bankruptcy (since credit counseling is one-step that many people have to go through first.) You can find a list of approved counselors on the United States Department of Justice website.

• Ask questions to get answers. In other words, flat out ask if the organization is a nonprofit and ask to see a fee schedule. You have the right to know this information before you agree to working with the agent.

• You can count on having a longer session with a credit counselor, some of which last over an hour. This session may cost a fee, this is common, but it should not be excessive. If you find the fee is too much, turn to another counselor first.

Talk to several counselors and find out what they can offer you. If anyone offers you, what you believe is something that is too good to be true, it probably is.

However, those who are good at their job are able to help you to pay off your debt faster and even reduce the amount you have to repay considerably. Others can help you to budget so that you can actually afford the process.

This is why so many consumers explore their options with the HBC credit card.

Currently, those interested in an HBC credit card can opt for the HBC account or for one backed by the Mastercard group. This provides those with either version of the HBC credit card with an almost overwhelming list of benefits.

For example, if you opt strictly for the HBC credit card, you will get double reward points whenever you use the card at selected stores and websites. This means that those who acquire the account strictly for bonus points can easily double every single one earned.

There is also an opportunity for monthly offers available only to cardholders, ninety day return protection and policies, a special cash card sent for every $500 spent with the card, and more rewards for shopping at specific sites and stores.

Naturally, it isn’t just the rewards that make any credit card account valuable to the customer, and the HBC cardholders can also enjoy a lot more than the financial benefits of using their accounts. They can also manage the entire account online, get their statements via the innovative “ePost” service, enroll in the proprietary “Adventurer’s Program”, and so much more.

Being rewarded for spending money wisely is something that almost all consumers will appreciate. Current financial situations all over the world are making it beneficial for everyone to get as much out of their dollars as possible, and the HBC credit accounts really help to make that happen.

Having the ability to do everything online also adds value to the cards because it gives the accountholder 24-hour access to their information. This is of tremendous value to those with little free time, but is also a great way to give someone peace of mind and complete control over their finances.

If you are “in the market” for a credit account with very unique and hefty rewards, this is likely to be the sort of card that will appeal to you because you can get double rewards for everyday things like gas or food.

You can also get rewards for heading to a specific store or for heading out on a vacation or an “adventure”. This is an unprecedented array of bonus options, and is one of the main reasons that the cards have attracted so much attention from consumers of many different kinds.

The Many Faces of the Juniper Credit Card, most people say that a credit card is a Visa or a Mastercard, but that is totally inaccurate. They are overlooking the fact that the card has a bank or company that is administrating the service.

What it so interesting is that a lot of consumers know about the Juniper credit card, and actually call it that by name! This is because it is part of the Barclay Bank group that has actually been involved in the world of finance for over three hundred years!

Clearly, a Juniper credit card means that you are accepting a credit account that is going to have a huge measure of stability and reliability, but it also has a lot more.

For example, the Juniper credit card is found in more than six different formats that offer all kinds of features and benefits. This means that a savvy consumer should take the time to peruse the different Juniper credit card offers currently available, and then choose the one that is the “best fit”.

For instance, one of the cards might have a six-month balance transfer offer with no interest fees. Another card might have a very low interest rate for qualified consumers. It is always going to be beneficial to any consumer to take the time and to discover which cards can give them what they need.

Consider that some of the Juniper cards are going to be a good match for those who travel a lot and who want to see their “miles” pile up quickly. There are different ways that these things occur, and it is going to be a good idea to see which accounts offer the most opportunities.

Alternately, someone may use their credit card for things like cash advances. If this sounds familiar, it is going to be a great advantage to find the offer that has the lowest rate on any balances carried in this way.

There are relatively standard interest rates for such things as balance transfers and cash advances. If you know that you can repay these things quickly, it is a very good idea to accept the terms on the account that has the best rates for these services, even if the APR is not exactly what you had hoped to find.

Fortunately, as already indicated, the Juniper credit cards have a large range of styles and options. This plan is going to give you the kind of service and flexibility that you need.
